Myron Shainess, 91, beloved father, grandfather, and great-grandfather departed this life peacefully in the early morning hours of October 23, 2007 surrounded by his loving children. His wife Fay predeceased him on July 11, 2000. He was the loving and devoted father of Wilma Hoffman of Newington, Barbara Sack of Bloomfield, and Joseph and Robin Shainess of Glastonbury. He was the loving grandfather of Richard and Amy Hoffman and great-grandson Aedan, Susan and Michael Stock, Joshua and David Shainess, Rob and Shelly Shainess, and Jennifer Shainess. Papa Mike, as we all called him, was a talented aeronautical engineer who was also known as Mr. Fix-it. His final years were spent happily in Florida where he enjoyed the frequent visits of his children and grandchildren. His first concern was always the well-being of his family. We all loved Dad dearly and he will always have a special place in our hearts forever. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, October 25, 2007 at 1:00 PM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi David J. Small officiating. Interment will follow at the Emanuel Synagogue Cemetery, Wethersfield. A memorial period will be observed at the home of his daughter, Wilma Hoffman, through Sunday. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Kol Haverim Synagogue Education Fund, 1079 Hebron Ave., Glastonbury, 06033, or to the Connecticut Humane Society, 701 Russell Rd., Newington 06111, or to the Make-A-Wish Foundation, 126 Monroe Turnpike, Trumbull 06611.
