Perry Lewis, 83 years of age, of Huron Dr., West Hartford, died Thursday, March 3, 2011. Born December 30, 1927 in Hartford, he was the son of the late Albert and Minnie (Sodafsky) Lewis. He graduated from the University of Connecticut and was an active member of his fraternity, Tau Epsilon Phi where he continued life-long friendships. He was also a member and past president of the Kiwanis Club. Perry was a partner of Real Drywall (Hebron, CT) and continued with the company even after retirement, when he divided his time between West Hartford and Boca Raton, FL. He leaves his wife of 61 years, Mildred (Rosenstein) Lewis; his daughter Adrienne Lewis Charak of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sons Howard P. Lewis of Cherry Hill, NJ and Stephan R. Lewis of Charlotte, NC; three granddaughters Rachel (Charak) Carlson, Jessica Charak, Deana Lewis; and a grandson Keven Lewis; and a great grandson, Martin Charak Carlson. He enjoyed golf and was an avid UCONN Huskies Men’s & Woman’s Basketball fan, being very involved with the UCONN Alumni Association.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 7, 2011, at 11:00 AM in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford, with Rabbi James Rosen officiating. Interment will follow in the Beth El Temple Cemetery, 51 Jackson St., Avon. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, I-91 Tech Center, 825 Brook St., Rocky Hill 06067.
