Roberta Goldman David of Simsbury CT passed away peacefully early Monday, January 30th amidst her loving family. She met Roy C. David, Jr., her adoring and devoted husband of 62 years, while a student at NYU in New York, where they resided until moving to the suburbs of CT to start a family. Roberta was mother to three children, Jonathan David (of Simsbury CT), Jill David (of Natick, MA), and Marc David, who predeceased her in 1997. It was her two grandchildren – Sara and Micah – who were the pride and joy of her life.
Roberta was a woman of many talents – she was a skilled sculptor and potter, an avid tennis player but ultimately it was golf that stole her heart. Before becoming immobile, Roberta could be found playing multiple rounds of golf, swimming, wintering in Florida, and spending time making pots in her studio. She was a trusted member of the Board of the Hartford Art School, and she enjoyed life to the fullest.
She is survived by her incredibly devoted husband, her son Jonathan, his wife Donna and their son Micah; her daughter Jill and her granddaughter (and best buddy), Sara, with whom she shared many late-night chats. She also leaves behind her wonderful sister Ellen, her husband Ralph, and their daughter Anna.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Marc David Scholarship Fund by mailing a check to the University of Miami, 6200 San Amaro Drive, Suite 300, Coral Gables, FL 33146 and adding the fund name on the memo line.
Private funeral services and burial were held. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
She will be deeply missed by her family, and many friends.
