Ruth P. (Siegel) Kronick, 100 years of age, of West Hartford, passed away on Sunday, February 22, 2015. She was the widow of Charles Kronick. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Esther (Harris) Siegel. She attended the Barnard College affiliated with Columbia University. Ruth was a Justice of the Peace in the Town of West Hartford, a past president of the West Hartford Democratic Women’s Club, a former chair of the Third District of the West Hartford Democratic Party, and a former chairwoman of the Advisor Committee for Disabled Persons. She was a member of Beth David Synagogue of West Hartford and the American Jewish Congress. Ruth was appointed by the late Governor William O’Neill to be a public member of the Board of Examiners of Psychologists and she was also actively involved with numerous other political activities and philanthropic organizations.
She was the beloved mother of Marjorie Stieglitz and her husband Terry of Atlanta, GA; loving grandmother of Shelby Brickman and her husband Allan, Amy Jaffe and her husband Jonathan, and Graham Stieglitz and his wife Erin all of Atlanta, and Sheri Gibson and her husband Thomas of South Carolina; and cherished great-grandmother of Lily, Hailey, Jordan, Rhys, Joshua; and her great-great-grandson, Joshua Jr. She was predeceased by her daughters, Elinor R. Underwood and Susan Joy Kronick, and her brother James Siegel.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 PM on Wednesday, February 25, 2015 in the Chapel of the Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford with Rabbi Yitzchok Adler officiating. Interment will follow in the Workmen’s Circle Branch 184 Cemetery, John Oates Ave., Hartford.
