To Lorie & Steve, so sorry for your loss. May "Sandy"s" memory live in your hearts forever.
Born in Hartford to the late Martin and Rose (Cohen) Katz, she graduated from Hall High School in West Hartford and attended University of Connecticut, before marrying Arnie, the love of her life, in 1947.
After raising her children and being a homemaker extraordinaire, Sandy worked in retail and insurance before entering residential real estate for several years. Upon retiring, she spent winters in Sarasota, FL. She enjoyed playing tennis, golf, bridge, mah jongg, and her favorite pastime of reading. Sandy was a long-time member of Hadassah and Congregation Beth Israel in West Hartford.
A special thank-you to Carnetta Ellis, Luraine Santouse, and the staff at Atria Hamilton Heights, Hughes Health and Rehabilitation and Connecticut Hospice for their extraordinary care.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 27th, at noon at Weinstein Mortuary, 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford, with Rabbi Pincus officiating. Interment will follow in Fairview Cemetery, West Hartford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 2075 Silas Deane Highway, Suite 100, Rocky Hill, CT 06067 or Connecticut Hospice, 100 Double Beach Rd., Branford, CT 06405, or a charity of the donor’s choice.
A memorial period will be observed at the home of Laurie and Steve Strauss, 26 Woodmont Rd., West Hartford, Friday through Sunday. For further information, directions, or to sign the guestbook for Sandy, please visit online at www.weinsteinmortuary.com/funerals.cfm
