Sydelle M. Baskind, of Bloomfield, CT, daughter of Joseph P. Mott and Esther M. (Ellish) Mott, born on October 1, 1932 in Hartford Connecticut, died on May 27, 2021. Educated at Weaver High School in Hartford and Skidmore College, she was an active homemaker and mother, encouraging and supporting her children’s growth and development. She very much enjoyed summer with her family at their home on the Connecticut shore. She went on to found and manage Travel Designs, a specialty travel agency focused on the needs of single travelers, which was a growing field at the time. She was quite active in travel circles and had the opportunity to travel to favored destinations around the world, which brought her great joy. In recent years she was highly active in The Light Source Center, located in West Hartford, CT, a non-profit school supporting personal growth through meditation. She was on the board and helped with the organization’s growth and development from its early years, including playing a major role in the school’s annual fund-raising auction. She leaves her son Barry Baskind (Eileen FitzGerald) of Old Saybrook, CT, and daughters Geri Baskind of Castro Valley, CA and Karen Baskind-Trombley (Drew Trombley) of West Granby, CT. She was predeceased by her former husband, Stanley Baskind, father of their children. She also leaves her six loving grandchildren: Sequoia Baskind and Sierra Wilcox (Casey Wilcox), Travis and Samuel Teffs, and Nicole and Dylan Trombley. She was predeceased by her brother, Marshall J. Mott. Funeral Services will be held graveside at the Emanuel Synagogue Cemetery, 1361 Berlin Turnpike, Wethersfield, CT 06109 at 11:00 am on Wednesday June 2, 2021.
