Walter Lindauer of West Hartford, passed away Thursday evening, June 23, 2011, thirty minutes short of his 99th birthday at the West Hartford Rehab Center after a brief illness. Born in Buttenhausen, Germany on June 24, 1912 to Moriz and Elsa (Moritz) Lindauer, in 1919 he moved to Stuttgart, Germany. He was a graduate of Karls-Gymnasium Stuttgart, Germany. He attended the University of Geneve, Switzerland and the Paris-Sorbonne University of Paris, France. Walter immigrated to the United States in 1934 and served four and a half years in the US Air Force Intelligence. Walter served as a past vice president of Venture Luggage. He was an avid reader. He was a member of the Emanuel Synagogue and a member of the Jewish War Veterans.
He leaves his beloved wife of 39 years, Marjorie Abramson Lindauer; his children: Norman and his wife Nancy of California, Kenneth and wife Lanie Finbury of North Andover, MA; grandchildren Matthew and wife Jasmine of California, Seth and wife Allison of California, Margo Cohen and husband Josh of Massachusetts, Max Lindauer of North Andover, MA, Michael Gasperini and Rachael Gasperini; and he also leaves behind six great grandchildren; his honorary children: Lee Tulin and Christine of Scottsdale, AZ and Susan Gasperini of Farmington; and several nieces and nephews. Walter was predeceased by his first wife Margo W. Lindauer and his two sisters Hilde and Lore of Denver, CO.
