Gerald Goldberg, 90, of West Hartford, Old Colony Beach, and Boca Raton, FL, died peacefully at home Saturday, March 17, 2012 with the love of his life, Lois, by his side. Born in Brooklyn, NY and grew up in Norwich, Gerald graduated from Norwich Free Academy and then moved to Hartford. After graduation, Gerald worked at Colt Fire Arms and The Popular Supermarket on Park Street before enlisting in the US Navy where he served as a Nose Gunner on a B-24 from 1942-1945. After the war, Gerald attended Morse School of Business in Hartford and became a well-respected Accountant in the Greater Hartford area. To all his friends and clients, he was known as Jerry, but to his wife Lois of 66 years, he was always lovingly called Gerald. Gerald was a founding member of Beth Shalom Synagogue in Hartford. After the birth of his first grandchild, Mindy, Gerald became known as “Zaidee” to all the kids. Besides his wife Lois, Gerald leaves his children: Michael & TJ (Tager) Goldberg, Jill & David Guy and Mark & Janet (Viner) Goldberg. Zaidee proudly leaves his six granddaughters: Mindy Goldberg, Heidi (Goldberg) & Mike Hanson, Alison (Guy) & Chris Roscoe, Jennifer (Guy) & Sean O’Halloran, Leah Goldberg and Rachel Goldberg. Zaidee took the most pleasure in showing off his six great grandchildren: Andrew & Dayna Hanson, Kayla & Abigail Roscoe, and Jack & Haylee O’Halloran. Gerald was predeceased by his mother, Ida (Liebman) Goldberg and his father Louis Goldberg, his sisters and brothers-in-law, Hilda & Sol Eisenberg and Beatrice & Julian Levin and his beloved in-laws, Leah & Kirk Saltz.
