It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Barry Shechtman on April 28th, 2024. He was born in Hartford CT on April 16th 1937, to Allen & Jean (Bernstein) Shechtman. Barry was a graduate of Mount Herman Preparatory School & Trinity College. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Professionally, Barry owned & operated Springfield Mack Inc., a commercial truck distributorship, for 50 years. Barry is survived by his wife Joyce, of 56 years, his devoted son Alan; brothers’ Richard (Shelia) Shechtman and Ronald (Lynne) Shechtman; sisters-in-law Elaine & Diane Halloran; nieces Kimberly Halloran and Rachel & Jenny Shechtman; nephew Jonathan (Katherine) Shechtman; great niece Leigh Shechtman; great nephew Bennett Shechtman. Burial was held privately. A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday May 5th from 12 Noon-3PM at Hunter’s Run Clubhouse, 1 Huntington Glen Rd, Avon CT 06001 Donations in Barry’s memory may be made to The Mandell Jewish Community Center: www.mandelljcc.org
